SB 1906, which became law on May 31, 2002, streamlined the timing of comprehensive plan amendment review in several ways: Agency review of proposed amendments is now a one-step process rather than the former two steps required; and non-controversial amendments are cleared through the review process more quickly. The bill also provided for internet notice of Department action to reduce publication costs with direct courtesy notices to interested citizens.
